Block Safety Essentials: Health and Safety Training for Block Managers
Sep 14, 2026Block Safety Essentials: Health and Safety Training for Block Managers
Block Safety Essentials goes live on 16 September 2026.
We're proud to announce the launch of perhaps our most important learning programme yet.
Created by The Block Coach, Block Safety Essentials is a comprehensive online health and safety training programme for block managers.
There are some excellent bite-sized block management CPD sessions available. However, the sector needs more structured training that combines practical residential property knowledge with independently recognised certification.
At the heart of the programme is IOSH Managing Safely. IOSH is the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health, one of the world’s leading professional bodies for workplace safety and health.
Block managers do not need to become health and safety consultants. They should, however, be able to identify hazards, assess risk, organise work safely and understand when specialist advice is required.
What does Block Safety Essentials cover?
The programme includes:
-
An introduction to health and safety in block management
-
Fire safety, compartmentation and lessons from Grenfell
-
General and fire risk assessments
-
IOSH Managing Safely, leading to an IOSH certificate
-
Asset inspection and statutory testing
-
The Building Safety Act and the different requirements at 11 and 18 metres
-
Demonstrating reasonable progress and maintaining an audit trail
-
Building Safety Case Reports
-
Asbestos awareness
-
LOLER and the management of lifting equipment
-
Further learning and professional development options
The course connects general health and safety principles directly to the everyday responsibilities of residential property managers, including contractor management, maintenance work, site inspections and building compliance.
Who is it for?
Block Safety Essentials is suitable for new and experienced block managers, team leaders and residential managing agents seeking consistent building safety training for property management teams.
Learners can begin with limited formal health and safety knowledge and finish with a strong practical foundation, specialist block safety learning and recognised certification.

Employers can also demonstrate that their teams have completed structured health and safety training for residential property managers, including the IOSH Managing Safely qualification.
Block Safety Essentials launches on 16 September 2026.
